  • Sandy becomes leader in sustainable development

  • Protect Clack/Sandy waters and habitat

  • Watershed health grows with the city

  • Actions:

  • Integrate GI as standard practice/first option

  • New development onsite – 100%

  • Incentives

  • Stream daylighting where possible

  • Public infrastructure standards + landscaping/design

  • Parks, transit, WWP master plan integration

Timeline: by 2050 (30 years)

GI ACTION PLANNING

  • Figure out what’s working (take advantage of grants)

  • Incorporate green into treatment plan

  • Incentives – performance permitting, expand residential incentives

  • Find case studies of incentives from small cities (with EE help)

  • Opportunity to revise zoning to allow for flatter roots for green roof installation (industrial selection)

  • Explore whether treatment plant effluent is classified as recycled water – opens up more opportunities for nature-based treatment

  • Parks master plan – increased focus on natural areas, not just recreation (e.g. corridors)

  • Pleasant Street

  • develop into a demonstration project, show people what’s possible

  • Green corridor

  • Extend from highway through town (coordinate w/ ODOT, leverage resources & investments)

  • Figure out how to work with ODOT, utilize mayor’s connection
