Call for Support: Helping PeaceTrees Vietnam Address the Legacy of the Vietnam War

In September, Earth Economics was thrilled to launch the inaugural Ingrid Rasch Legacy Fund application. We received a number of compelling applications; among them, PeaceTrees Vietnam’s request for a working map resource to support their demining efforts in central Vietnam. With your support, we aim to raise sufficient funds by December 31st to support this vital technical assistance project.

PeaceTrees Vietnam, a Washington State-based non-profit with headquarters in Seattle and in Dong Ha, Quang Tri Province, Vietnam, is dedicated to addressing the legacy of war by removing dangerous explosives, returning land to safe use, promoting peace, and cultivating a brighter future for the children and families of Vietnam. Since their founding in 1995, the organization has cleared over 4,700 acres of land, removed nearly 140,000 explosive ordnance, planted more than 44,000 trees, and supported communities through education, scholarships, and community-building.

With technical assistance from Earth Economics, PeaceTrees seeks to develop their understanding of the current and future impacts of environmental and climate change-related hazards on their work in the humanitarian mine action space. By overlaying environmental and climate change data with mine action data, this work will help inform resilience and adaptation planning, ensuring that their work is meaningful not only for communities today, but also well into the future.

With your help, we aim to raise $7500 by December 31st that will be matched dollar-for-dollar to support PeaceTrees Vietnam with a first-of-its kind working map resource for the mine action sector. We hope you’ll consider supporting this wonderful organization’s work towards a safe and brighter future for Vietnamese communities!
